For The Deep Breath Kind Of Days

Mom, I think about the days around water and sunshine, when life felt simple in the best way — deep breaths, hanging out, and nobody needing to make the moment into anything bigger than it was.

When I was younger, I just knew those days felt good. Now I understand that you helped teach me something important there: life is not only something to get through. It is something to notice, enjoy, and be present inside of.

Today I am praying that kind of calm finds you while you heal. Slow and steady, protected and loved, one gentle day at a time. I love you so much, Mom.

Always your son
