Back home

For Coming Home Again

Mom, I think about coming home from out of town and staying with you now that I am grown. It feels different than it did when I was a kid, but in a good way. We are still mother and son, just with more life behind us, sharing home in a new season.

When I was younger, I thought home was something that would always be exactly the same. Now I understand that the real gift is that it can change and still be there. Your love has made room for that. It did not disappear as I got older. It grew with us.

I hope this Sunday feels calm and steady for you as you keep recovering, and I hope you know how much I love being your son. I love you, Mom.

With all my love, your son
