For Mother’s Day, Mom

Mom, on Mother’s Day I keep thinking about the kitchen when you were making chicken and dumplings, flour on the granite counters and paper football somehow becoming part of dinner.

I see that memory differently now. It was not just food or a game. It was you making home feel warm, playful, and safe all at once. So much of what I understand about being loved started in ordinary moments like that.

I hope today feels kind to you, especially as you keep recovering and finding your steadiness again. I love you very much, Mom. I’m grateful I get to be your son.

Love you always, your son
