For Coming Home And Finding You There

Mom, I’ve been thinking about what it feels like to come home from out of town now, as an adult, and still get to be there with you. It is different than when I was a kid, but there is still that familiar feeling of being loved in a place that knows me.

I understand now that home did not disappear when I got older. It changed with us. It became less about needing to be taken care of all the time and more about being grateful that we still get to share life as mother and son, but also as two grown people who know what we mean to each other.

I hope today feels steady and kind to you as you keep recovering. I love you, Mom, and I’m really glad home still has you in it.

With all my love, your son
